The Grenville Fire Department was testing and cleaning its equipment at the Grenville Wharf on Thursday, November 11. The mild weather and sunny conditions meant it was the perfect day to carry out such activities.

One of The Review's regular contributors is Phil Thompson, who says he could not resist capturing this shot on a crisp fall day.

This week's photo comes from reader Manfred Schroeder, who took this photo earlier this month of a spider building a web, near his property on Concession 5 Road in Alfred.

He pointed out that you can see, in detail, the silk thread coming out from the spider's body.

Thanks Manfred, for once again submitting one of your interesting nature photos.

With the mercury hitting 27 degrees over Easter weekend, many took to the slopes of the Laurentian mountains to enjoy a the best of both worlds - summer weather and fresh snow - or take part in two major competitions: the two-day Ride Shakedown event at Mont Saint-Sauveur, which attracted over 25,000 people, and the 10-day Telus Spin Festival at Mont Tremblant.

See below to watch a slideshow photo gallery, both a reminder of last weekend's unusually warm weather or a glimpse of the massive crowds and snowboarding skills that were present.

These photos were taken by Review photographer Matthew Brown on a recent trip to the Rouge River in Quebec. The early spring melt resulted in higher-than-normal rapids and rushes for mid-March.

Antoine Cholette sent The Review this photo of an old International tractor parked in a field in Lefaivre. The worn red colour of the tractor acts as a nice contrast to the pale yellow and brown field.

This stunning photo of a sled-dog husky was taken by The Review freelance photographer Matthew Brown, last Saturday, January 16 at the Riceville Winterfest.

It appears, in the photo, as if the dog has two different coloured eyes - is it a trick of the light, or is it real?

In any case, the look in his eyes - dedicated, but calm - is transfixing, to say the least.

Phillip Thompson of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge sent us this photo of some of his favourite farmhouses - located along Scotch Road at the exit of Highway 50 - taken on Saturday, January 2 during a beautiful snowfall.

Here's a message from photographer Bodo Schmidt: "Alight at Night is up and running at Upper Canada Village. This was a rare night where the wind was low and no geese swam on the lake in front of the train."

"In mid September, a friend and I were walking at the Alfred board walk.

When we came across this orange frog, Spring peeper ( Pseudacris crucifer ).

I was amazed to have found this tiny frog. He was the size of a dime."

Cheers,
