'Little Nashville' keeps getting bigger in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA - There were no covered wagons in Alexandria last weekend, but the Tabac jr's Little Nashville Country Festival welcomed more than 500 Rvs.

This was the fifth year for the four-day festival.

Hawkesbury councillor Gilles Roch Greffe has announced he would like to represent Glengarry-Prescott-Russell in Parliament.

Roch Greffe will be running against L'Orignal assistant crown attorney Julie Bourgeois for the post of Liberal candidate in the federal riding.

On June 16, Roch Greffe says he's confident that the Liberals can win the next election against incumbent Pierre Lemieux and the Conservative party.

Despite a recent reversal by Hawkesbury's municipal council about the clean up of the CIP lagoons, Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources will continue its plans. Ontario Minister of Natural Resources Donna Cansfield spoke to The Review on May 12. She said the government, which owns the land, would not consider something fundamentally different than the approved Option Two which would see a partial remeditation of the CIP lagoon: the pollution folded in half and buried on the site.
