Everyone loves a little bit of anarchy - especially if it has anything to do with the hit television series Sons of Anarchy.

After a sold-out visit from former cast member Ryan Hurst (who played Opie on the show) in March, Goulet Motorsports has once again teamed up with Full Throttle Events to bring two cast members back to Hawkesbury.

Death can make for great drama on a series like FX's Sons of Anarchy-but it can also break a lot of hearts.

Such was the case on September 25 when member Harry "Opie" Winston, played by actor Ryan Hurst, was fatally beaten in retaliation for the death of a rival's daughter.

Fans of the show, which number in the millions, were heart-broken, to say the least.

The Fondation L'Ange Gardien is hosting an open house at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club on Monday, October 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to discuss the proposed addiction treatment center to be located at the former Ste-Marie convent located at 159 Higginson Street in Vankleek Hill.

The proposed treatment facility would house 70 residents, who would not be permitted off the grounds without supervision, according to Alain Champagne, general manager. At present, views are mixed about having such a center in Vankleek Hill.

The members of the Dalkeith Historical Society never gave up on their dream to take ownership of the last remaining heritage building in their community.

The years of hard work and dedication have finally paid off.

Historical society spokesperson Frances Fraser just announced that the Dalkeith Historical Society is now the proud owner of St. Paul's chapel.

"We finally got the deed," Fraser said. "This is so exciting and it's proof that all of our hard work has finally paid off."

The deadline for the launch of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit's (EOHU) online disclosure system to make restaurant reports available to the public has been pushed back once again.

Although chief medical officer of health Dr. Paul Roumeliotis is currently on holidays, he did send The Review a short e-mail about the database on Monday, August 13.

VANKLEEK HILL - Have no fear, the annual Festival of Flavours will proceed as planned.

The fate of the popular festival, which is set to take place on Sunday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., was on shaky ground up until recently.

Organizer Phil Arber explained that this year, the festival was asked to comply with a number of "very strict regulations" imposed by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU).

In celebration of the fact that the City of Clarence-Rockland will host the 2012 Poker Run on the Ottawa River, river-front communities across the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) will be participating in the first-ever Ottawa River Festival.

There are plenty of activities planned for the festival, which takes place this weekend, from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8.

Many francophone in the region are concerned that the decline of their language and heritage may soon force them to become the minority, rather than the majority.

The Sommet de la francophonie was held on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1 in Alfred. The purpose of the summit was to encourage local representatives from sectors including economic development and community and immigration and members of the public to take a look at the current state of the French language and culture in the region.

The Poker Run on the Ottawa River will run from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8 and will include three different poker runs - the Poker Run - Performance Boats, Poker Run Rendez-Vous - Pleasure Boats and the Rockland Ford Poker Run, which will feature more than 200 cars.

J.M Barrie's classic tale of Peter Pan, came to life at the Théâtre des Petits Bonheurs, in Lachute, during a three-day run from June 1-3, that catered to the region's families, by presenting a show that was largely performed by children, for children.

The child actors ranged in age from four-year-olds to teenagers and they featured such budding talents as William Lépine, who played the iconic role of Peter Pan, opposite Joannie Lacroix as Wendy and Johanne Desr

Ghost hunters, vandals and time have all taken their toll on St. John's Shrewsbury Anglican Church in Gore.

Earlier this month Shrewsbury Church got yet a reprieve when a band of volunteers met at the church for a day of painting and repairs.

The group of volunteers was largely comprised of descendents of the families that helped founded the church and whose ancestors lay buried in the church cemetery

When it comes to the future of Confederation Park, Paula Assaly is ready to take action to make Hawkesbury's only remaining green space more attractive to residents and tourists.

At the regular meeting of Hawkesbury council held on Monday, May 28, Assaly, along with a group of about 30 concerned citizens and supporters, presented a detailed plan aimed at returning Confederation Park, which serves as the gateway between the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, to its former glory.

The park is located on what is commonly known to most locals as L'île du Chenail.

The town has had an on-again off-again relationship with the Monument de la francophonie but after Monday's council meeting, it appears the monument is back on the agenda.

A group of about 20 supporters and members of the committee attended the meeting, during which council supported a motion put forward by councillor Alain Fraser to reopen debate of the future of the project.

The project was pushed back after council passed a resolution in March asking the committee to put the project on hold to "ensure it fits with the vision of council and the community."

The 2011 International Plowing Match (IPM) was not only successful in attracting visitors, it was also a financial success.

East Hawkesbury Mayor Robert Kirby has announced the IPM, which was held in Chute-à-Blondeau last September, finished with a $225,000 legacy fund.

That money will be donated to various local charities, agencies and community organizations.

The final report also confirmed that the event attracted a total of 72,000 visitors to the area.

The walls of Arbor Gallery will soon be lined with vivid paintings featuring some of the world's most endangered species.

The exhibit entitled Endangered Species will showcase more than 30 paintings and three sculptures by Vankleek Hill artist Eva-Maria Albrecht-Hoedeman.

The vernissage will be held this Sunday, April 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the gallery and the exhibit will run until May 6.

When asked what inspired her to create paintings featuring endangered species, Hoedeman said her love and respect for these disappearing animals inspired her.
