Jean Sarrazin worked as a reporter/photographer for The Review for about three years, before being assigned to managing The Review's website. This a new  career for Jean, who retired about five years ago after 27 years with the CBC. His time with CBC Radio included touring with the Royal Canadian Air Farce as their on-stage sound effects man and recording two albums with Glenn Gould. Jean retired as senior advisor to the vice-president of technology at CBC and over the years, was involved in nation-wide programming and technology changes.

Jean records concerts and events such as all-candidates meetings with a view to putting more multi-media content on The Review's website.  Watch for continuing changes to The Review's website as we try new things to get you more involved in what is published in the newspaper and online!

A Canada-wide postal strike, effective Wednesday, June 12, has affected the normal delivery procedure of The Review.

After 12 days of rotating strike activity by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), Canada Post decided to suspend mail service in urban areas across the country.

When CTV's Ottawa newsroom went up in flames on Sunday, February 7, officials turned to a Vankleek Hill-based company to make sure the tower on the building's roof didn't collapse and cause further damage.

Dentist Stuart Robertson and his wife Barbara have worked all over the
world, in the Caribbean, Africa, the Dominican Republic and have also
volunteered their desperately needed dental skills to people with
little or no access to that kind of service in Haiti. Here in Ontario
Stuart practices frequently in a hospital and a residential high
school in Sioux Lookout.

Every year, more than 272,000 tonnes of computer equipment, phones, televisions, stereos and small appliances end up in Canadian landfills. That's enough waste to fill five Great Lakes freighters! This figure can only be estimated, and it is quite likely that there is much more. Globally, it is estimated that 50 million tonnes of electronic waste end up in landfills.

Ever since moving to the city of Montreal nine years ago, Hawesbury native and musician Jason Lalonde says he has always hoped he would get a chance to come back to the area - to play a gig and hook up again with old friends.

The Dalkeith Carnival Parade took place on January 24. The 2009 Laggan grads showed their community spirit in the parade and horse-drawn carriages and riders also entertained the crowd.

The Vankleek Hill Review is organizing a fundraising event designed to help local high school music students take a trip of a lifetime to Austria. The unique fundraising initiative is a webcast of the school’s Christmas concert to be carried “live” on The Review’s website. The webcast will make the home town high school concert available to anyone, anywhere around the world who has access to a high speed internet connection and will come complete with PBS-style invitations to “call in now with your financial pledges.”
