Hawkesbury’s Christmas parade took place on December 5 and hundreds of families lined Main Street to see the floats and marching bands.
This year’s parade benefited from seasonalyl warm weather, and one didn’t even need mittens to keep warm. However, there were plenty of Santa tuques.

A farmhouse in East Hawkesbury was severely vandalized in recent months and spray-painted with the message, "Solar: not on prime farm land."

The farmhouse is on land purchased in mid-July by Solaris Energy Partners Inc., an Ottawa-based company which sold the property to a larger developer, Enfinity Canada, in September.

The damage, reported to Hawkesbury police by Enfinity on October 16, is estimated at more than $25,000.

Canada is facing an increasingly competitive marketplace for manufacturing, and it's becoming very expensive to keep up in today's world.

The proof is a $1 million investment at ELPA industries in L'Orignal, which now has a new giant-size industrial lathe.

Carl Hungerbuehler, owner of ELPA, said the new machine will allow the company to bid on new types of contracts, such as building parts for wind turbines.

It might seem early in the year, but black ice has already contributed to a collision in the region.

On November 12 at 7:40 a.m., two small cars collided on the Long Sault bridge.
Lieutenant Andre Montpetit of the Sureté du Quebec said the collision was due to black ice. One car is said to have skidded into the path of another, on the Quebec side of the bridge.

"It was a loss of control, due to slippery road conditions," he said.

The suspects then tried to evade police by driving into a corn field east of Alfred on Monte Peladeau Street.

Police say the stolen car immediately got stuck in the mud, and the two men fled on foot.

Owner Jeannine Bastien said the $140,000 investment will allow Synergy Equestrian to expand its business.

The centre will board horses for the winter and its riding, dressage and vaulting lessons will now continue year-round.
