$52 million in funding for infrastructure projects announced for region
Earlier this afternoon, $52 million in infrastructure funding was announced for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell for 18 different projects, including an upgrade for rural water systems in Clarence-Rockland, funds for the improvement of the Vankleek Hill lagoon system, and funding for an indoor sports complex in North Glengarry. The Building Canada projects mean that projects are funded one-third by the federal government, one-third by the provincial government and municipalities must finance the remaining third of projects. Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP Pierre Lemieux and MPP Jean-Marc Lalonde were on hand to make the announcements.
The $800,000 boost for North Glengarry's indoor sports complex ($400,000 from each of the federal and provincial levels of government) means that North Glengarry will have to find $400,000 in matching funds for its portion of the project.
A table outlining each project was released today by the province.
Watch for more details.
