Alexandria makes it to the Hockeyville Top 12
The town of Alexandria was selected by CBC as one of the top 12 communities for the Kraft Hockeyville contest, during a broadcast on Monday, March 15.
The first round of public voting is open until Sunday, March 21 at 11:59 p.m., and will determine which communities make it to the top five spots. Voting is open 24 hours per day, and is unlimited via the Internet and by phone - so vote and vote often.
There are three official ways to vote: online at http://www.cbcsports.ca/hockeyville; by sending a text message with "Vote Alexandria" to 111888; or by calling 1-866-533-8066. (Voting by text message is limited to 25 texts per day and costs 15 cents per text.)
CBC will recap the top 12 communities on March 20, and the top five finalists will be announced during Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday, March 27. Voting will then resume for the final round, from March 27 to 31.
CBC will announce the winner on April 3. The winning community receives an NHL pre-season game, to be played in the local arena, and $100,000 for its upgrades. The four runner-up finalists receive $25,000 in arena upgrades from Kraft Canada.
