Athlete of the week: Kaitlin Newton

Kaitlin Newton is 12 years old and goes to Pleasant Corners Public School. Her sport of interest is figure skating and she is part of the Hawkesbury Figure Skating Club. Her coach is Josée Denis. Kaitlin is working on her senior bronze freeskate, senior silver skills, senior silver elements, senior silver dances and Gold interpretive. Kaitlin received the Senior Competition Achievement Award plaque and the Most Dedicated Senior Skater trophy award at the end-of-year banquet on May 2, 2009. On September 17, Kaitlin attended the Autumn Skate Invitational in Kanata and placed sixth in the junior bronze category. She is looking forward to competing at the first invitational competition in Hawkesbury on November 28 and 29 as well as the EOSIC 2010 in Ottawa. She also enjoys soccer, swimming, shopping, reading and going to the movies.
