Centraide/United Way reach $250,000 goal
The Centraide/United Way Prescott-Russell fundraising campaign of 2009 met the goal of $250,000 recently, thanks to the donations of Prescott-Russell residents and companies.
The total amount raised, $251,500, was announced during the annual fundraising campaign’s official closing ceremony which was held at Laplante Chevrolet Pontiac Buick GMC in Casselman. Centraide/United Way Prescott-Russell would like to thank Mr. Jacques Laplante, president and owner, for organizing this activity.
“We had set the same objective as last year due to the current economic climate. I am pleased to announce the population took up the challenge despite the crisis which prevails. In this time of economic uncertainty, it was extremely important to reach our objective as the number and urgency of needs presented to community organizations are growing steadily,” stated the 2009 Campaign Chair of United Way Prescott-Russell, Mr. René Berthiaume.
“If we can declare ‘Mission accomplished’, it is thanks to the efforts of an entire community rallying around the cause: individual and corporate donors, organizations, the media, volunteers, members of the Campaign and the Board of Directors of Centraide/United Way Prescott-Russell,” added Mr. Berthiaume.
Recognizing the essential nature of mutual assistance and solidarity within their community, more and more Prescott-Russell inhabitants are choosing to support the Centraide/United Way cause. The payroll deduction system is a central element of the campaign’s success and the number of entrepreneurs agreeing to set up such a system is increasing steadily. For its part, Centraide/United Way plans to establish new partnerships with local entrepreneurs in order to increase participation in this program.
In 12 years of existence, Centraide/United Way Prescott-Russell has redistributed over one million dollars to priority projects and to maintain essential services in the community. For more information, call Sylvie at 613-679-4699.
