Come celebrate Canada Day in Hawkesbury, Vankleek Hill, L’Orignal

It looks as though Hawkesbury will be the place to be on Canada Day, as Canadians across the country come together to celebrate the nation's birthday.

Locally, there are plenty of activities planned at Confederation Park in Hawkesbury. Festivities will kick off with a brunch from 8:30 a.m. to noon, put on by the Club D'Age D'Or.

The official opening ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m., with the raising of the Canadian flag and the singing of the National Anthem.

There will be a variety of inflatable games and activities on site for children from noon to 6 p.m. At 1 p.m., those with a sweet tooth can come by for a piece of free Canada Day cake.

The Majinx magic show will take place from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. and there will be a variety of other amusements, face painting and kiosks from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The evening festivities will kick off at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by Imaginarium and Michel Pagliaro, known as the Canadian rocker who came closest to writing perfect car radio Beatles-like pop. He recorded at Apple Studios in London and sings like both John Lennon and Paul McCartney in two languages.

A fireworks display will get underway at 11 p.m.
