Domestic disturbance leads to major drug bust
A domestic disturbance in Grenville on Monday, January 10 led police to the discovery of a thriving drug business that was operating within a residential building on Rue Principale.
Sûreté du Quebec (SQ) police officers responded to the disturbance, where they apprehended a woman who was attempting to drive herself to the hospital to receive treatment for a minor laceration; she had inflicted it upon herself when she allegedly broke the window of the apartment where the disturbance occurred.
Police officers then continued to the apartment where they found a 39-year-old male tenant who was also involved in the domestic disturbance. Within the apartment, police officers discovered the presence of a cannabis production facility that included cannabis and cannabis resin and nearly 40 kilograms of hashish.
All of the illicit drugs were seized by SQ officers and the male tenant of the apartment has been ordered to appear at the Saint-Jerome courthouse, where he will face charges of illicit drug production.
