Finding the Christmas spirit

The Editor:
I was in a grocery on Wednesday.  I was putting my food on the counter. I was tired and thinking of my list of all the stuff that I had to do. Clean the house, shopping, thinking about that one person that I might have forgotten. What do I buy them? You know -- at this time of year everyone has so much to do.
I heard this older gentleman behind me. He asked me if I have grandkids. I looked at him and I thought to myself “What does he want?” I said, “Yes” and he reaches in his pockets and gave me some CDs and told me to give them to my grandkids.
Right away I was thinking he needed money and I asked how he wanted for them. “Nothing, just have a good Christmas. Enjoy your Grandkids”. Then he was gone.
I was a little shocked, but I put them in my pocket. I went to see my grandkids that day. I told my daughter about this man. She said that was strange. So we put them in the DVD player and found three wonderful movies all about Santa.
I was so ashamed of myself. This wonderful older gentleman came to give me a little gift for my grandkids. Asking for nothing and all I can think is what does he want. All I could think of was how much money does he want? Shame on me!
I would like to thank this man for giving me the spirit of Christmas back. I had lost it.
This is the time of year to give of yourself. It is not about how much money we can spend. I would like to wish a Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope you, too, find the Christmas spirit.
