Four men arrested on fraud charges

Hawkesbury Zellers, Rockland businesses scammed
One 48-year-old man has been arrested and named by police, and three other men have charges pending, in a fraud case that allegedly targeted several regional businesses.

According to Russell County OPP, a man tried to buy goods from the Shoppers Drug Mart on Laurier Street in Rockland on August 12 with a stolen credit card.

The man fled before police arrived, though police were given a description of the getaway vehicle.

En route to the Shoppers Drug Mart, police saw the described vehicle in the Walmart parking lot on Richelieu Street in Rockland. Police subsequently stopped the car and four men were arrested.  Several electronic devices likes Playstation3s, PSPs and digital cameras were seized from the car. The items were in their original packaging and with their original receipts. 

Police say  the accused allegedly defrauded the Hawkesbury Zellers and  SONXPLUS and Walmart in Rockland. 

One man from Montreal faces 25 criminal charges including possession of a stolen credit card, forging documents, possession of property obtained by crime and several breach of probation orders.

He was held for bail in L’Orignal.

Charges are pending against the three other men.
