Harrington opens temporary eco-centre

Cleaning out the garage just got a little easier for Harrington residents, who will now be able to travel to a new temporary eco-centre to toss away paint cans, metal, tires, construction materials and outdated propane tanks.

The new eco-centre opened on Saturday, August 7 and is located along Highway 327, on the Chemin Depatoir, at the former location of the municipal garbage dump. The centre will be open every Saturday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

A permanent eco-centre is being built at this location to enable residents the opportunity to safely and environmentally dispose of hazardous household substances.

The permanent structure is expected to be completed this fall. Chemin Depatoir is also in the process of being renamed Chemin L'écocentre.
