Horticultural society flower show results

The Vankleek Hill & District Horticultural Society held its annual flower show on July 18, 2010. The results were as follows.
In Class 1 (lilies), first place was Caroline Bissonette, second place was Vi Brunet, and third place was Joan King.

In Class 2 (rhizomes, tubers, hermerocallis), first place went to Liz Radix, second place to Vi Brunet, and third place was a tie between Mary Higginson, Monika Vogel, and Joan King.

In Class 3A (perennials), Vi Brunet received first place, Caroline Bissonette second place, and Monika Vogel third place.

Class 3B (annuals) saw its first place prize go out to Caroline Bissonette, second place went to Liz Radix, and third place went to both Louise Allard and Ellen Wyss.

In Class 4 (roses), Joyce Hollett got the first place prize, Louise Allard second place, and Ellen Wyss third place.

Class 5 (houseplants) saw its first place awarded to Caroline Bissonette, second place to Elizabeth Schroeder, and third place to both Liz Radix and Margo St-Marie.

In Class 6 (decorative arrangements), Ellyn Wyss was first place, Louise Allard was second place, and Patti Duffy and Etoile McCaan tied for third place.

In Class 7 (photographs), Vi Brunet obtained the first place prize, Lynne Chenel got second place, and Louise Allard got third place.

The high point winners of the day were Caroline Bissonette in first with 58 total points, Vi Brunet in second with 38 total points, and Liz Radix in third with 27 total points.

This year, 21 members participated with a total of 264 entries. There were 174 in the floral section and 85 in the photograph section.

Vi Brunet was presented with the Gisbert Rosenstein Trophy for the best perennial (judge's choice). The name of her perennial was Echinops.
