Lamadeleine says he will seek one more term as Casselman mayor
Although he wasn't quite sure he would seek re-election, Casselman Mayor and United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) Warden Conrad Lamadeleine says he has "too many projects" to finish before he retires from the political scene.
The veteran politician, who has more than 20 years of municipal politics under his belt, recently announced he will seek at least one more term as mayor of Casselman.
"I always said I would stop when I accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish," he said. "I still have work to do. I still have projects I want to see through to the end."
The Nation Mayor Denis Pommainville has decided this will be his last year in office, after three decades serving on municipal council.
Francois St-Amour, who has been Ward 1 councillor for seven years, recently made the announcement that he will be running for the position of mayor in the October municipal election.
In Hawkesbury, newcomers Frederick Miner and Johanne Portelance and incumbent councillors Gilles Roch Greffe and André Chamaillard have joined incumbent mayor Jeanne Charlebois and her opponent, René Berthiaume, in declaring their intention to seek a position at the Hawkesbury council table.
Additionally, former councillor Alain Fraser has announced his intention to run for a councillor seat.
