Moulin Rouge meets Chemin Principale in rowdy cabaret performance
This summer, turn off your television, put on your party shoes and head to Lachute where you can step back in time and watch a rowdy cabaret performance at the Théâtre des petits bonheurs, beginning July 16.
Montreal-based theatrical group OuLala Prodcutions will be sashaying into Lachute, where they will lace up their corsets, pour absinthe cocktails and thrill crowds with a song and dance show that explodes with energy from beginning to end.
The group of bilingual performers promises to thrill crowds with a flirtatious cabaret that highlights over 30 performances of song and dance, based upon the music of the prohibition. Performances alternate between French and English and feature such songs as 'Where is Your Heart,' which was made famous in the film Moulin Rouge, and 'Money Makes the World Go Round.'
The performance, titled Absinthe, Corset et Cabaret, opens at the Théâtre des petits bonheurs, located at 523 Berry Street in Lachute, on Friday, July 16 at 8 p.m. A repeat performance takes place on Saturday, July 17, with a final performance at Top Shot Resto-Bar in Lachute on October 8 at 8 p.m.
"The show is travelling across Quebec and it promises to bring culture and life along with it," said OuLala Productions representative and performer Natacha Monette. "All cultural grants in Quebec have been cut and it is becoming more difficult to be a performer, which is why we depend so heavily on the support of our fans. Tickets are $25, or $22 for firefighters who arrive in uniform. We love our firefighters."
People who buy their tickets early can reserve tables of four or six inside the former movie theatre, which will be transformed with sets and candles into a prohibition-era bar.
