Music in the Pines Festival to take place this weekend
If you love good music and talented artists all nestled in the beauty of Mother Nature, then this weekend's third-annual Music in the Pines Festival is the event for you.
The event is being held at Whispering Pines Campground, located at 681 Concession 10, and runs from this Thursday, June 30 to Sunday, July 3.
Eileen Garde, who owns and operates the campground and organizes the festival, said the event promises lots of fun for the whole family.
"This event is amazing and it gets bigger and bigger every year," she commented. "There is something for everyone, both children and adults alike. We encourage people to come and check us out. You won't be disappointed."
With a wide variety of musical performances, friendly vendors and great workshops, Garde said it's the perfect weekend get away, kick up your heels and let your hair down. "Bring your hand drums, guitars, harmonicas, flutes, violins, and if you have one, your accordion," she remarked. "Whatever you have, if it makes music, bring it. This is the best place to have campsite jams and meet fellow musicians to make beautiful music. You never know what could come of it."
Live entertainment will include performances Sad Guru, Nadine Banville, Bob Mannseichner, Triskalia, River City Junction, Castalia, Kanaska Carter, Chant Libre, Theda Phoenix, Hippie Campfire and open jams throughout the weekend.
Garde said there will also be workshops, vendors, Canada Day fireworks, a children's program with numerous activities, camping, swimming, nightly bonfires, hand drumming, art gallery, tea time and a teddy bear picnic.
Each year, Garde explained, the festival donates money to charity and this year's charity of choice is the Children's Wish Foundation.
