OPP finds stolen motorcycle and tractors in North Glengarry
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered two stolen tractors and a motorcycle after executing a search warrant on a farm property near Dunvegan on Friday, April 8.
Officers with the Hawkesbury OPP's property crime unit executed the search warrant at a location on Skye Road in North Glengarry Township. The warrant was the result of an investigation of two incidents of farm tractor thefts.
A 38-year-old North Glengarry man was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada for three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
A 1996 Case tractor, model 5240, had been stolen from a County Road 22 property in The Nation Township in May 2009. A 2007 Case Tractor model JX1100U, had been stolen from a farm on St-Isidore Road in Nation Township in June 2009.
Development in the investigation of these stolen items resulted in the approval and execution of search warrant at the said location. OPP officers recovered both farm tractors without incident and, furthermore, a Suzuki Intruder motorcycle - stolen from a Champlain Township location in April 2009 - was also recovered.
The total cost of the vehicles is estimated to be between $70,000 and $80,000.
The accused is to appear in Alexandria court to answer to the accusations on Wednesday, May 11.
