Passport clinics will be hosted in Alexandria, Vankleek Hill in 2010

Due to popular demand, Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP Pierre Lemieux is once again organizing passport clinics for local residents.

Lemieux reminds constituents that a secure document such as a passport is now required for all Canadians entering the United States.

These first passport clinics of the New Year will be held in Alexandria on January 15 and in Vankleek Hill on February 19. To date, Lemieux has organized 13 passport clinics in these areas in the last three years.

Please note the following key information before you attend either clinic:

·        The Passport Clinic will be capable of processing approximately 125 applications

·        People are encouraged to arrive early. It was noted during the first passport clinics that the clinics were ‘full’ shortly after having opened. Numbers will be assigned to people based on a first-come-first serve basis. If a person with a number cannot be served immediately, they can return later in the day when their number is about to be processed.

·        People may submit applications for themselves and up to three (3) additional family members who live at the same address.

·        Lemieux offers passport services through his MP offices. If someone cannot be served on the day of the Passport Clinic, they are invited to visit one of Lemieux’s MP offices on another day for passport assistance.

To ensure prompt and efficient service, people must:

·        Arrive with their passport applications filled out and already signed by their guarantors.

·        Have in their possession two passport photos meeting the guidelines of Passport Canada

·        Have in their possession original documents indicating proof of citizenship and of identity in accordance with Passport Canada (ie. Birth certificate etc). These will be sent to Passport Canada with the application.

·        Arrive with copies of two valid pieces of photo identification (Driver’s Licience and Health Care card), signed by the guarantor.

·        Use a credit card to pay the $87 Passport Canada fee (cash cannot be accepted).

Passport Canada application forms can be picked up at any MP office, Canada Post outlet, or Service Canada Centre.
