PC candidate Gosselin, MPP Hillier welcomed by local supporters
Glengarry-Prescott-Russell Progressive Conservative candidate Marilissa Gosselin and MPP Randy Hillier visited Vankleek Hill on Saturday, February 5 to discuss their political agenda with the party's local supporters.
The visit to Beau's All-Natural Brewery was part of a fundraising campaign for Gosselin, a first-time candidate who will run against the Ontario Liberal Party's candidate in the provincial election this coming October.
"A change is coming," voiced Gosselin. "We plan to focus on job creation, tax cuts, health and education."
Notable members of the community such as The Nation Mayor Francois St-Amour, Champlain Councillor Paul-Emile Duval and federal MP Pierre Lemieux joined PC supporters as Hillier and Gosselin voiced their opinions about the many flaws they observe in the current government and how, if elected, they plan on improving the situation.
"Under the McGuinty government, Ontario has quickly gone from the powerhouse of confederation to the poor house," said Hillier. "Not only have they doubled the debt, but they have also doubled the amount of provincial offences, which in turn has led to nothing but a loss of our personal freedom and economic opportunity."
The MPP made reference to the recent cancellation of the spa project in Vankleek Hill because of complications with building ordinances.
"We are leading the fight for a government that puts people first, not red tape," said Hillier. "For Ontario to regain its rightful place as an economic powerhouse we first need to peel away the layers of bureaucracy that the McGuinty government has forced onto us."
