In the early hours of September 17, Lachute fire fighters responded to a house fire at 955 Principale Street.
"The fire was reported at 6:04 a.m. and the first fire truck arrived at 6:15 a.m. When we arrived the residence was on fire. The owner of the building told us he was frying french fries when the fire started," said Lachute Fire Chief Pierre Morand.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sûréte du Quebec.
In order to extinguish the fire, 22 Lachute fire fighters were called to the scene, with six additional fire fighters dispatched from the Brownsburg-Chatham fire department. By 7:35 a.m., Chief Morand reports that the fire was under control and the fire was fully extinguished by around 12:00 p.m.
