Visit some of Vankleek Hill's most beautiful homes

This year was the first time that The Review organized the Victorian Christmas Home Tour independently. Independently, of course, but with lots of help from a great community of volunteers!
Scroll down to see our photo galleries from this year's event.

Review publisher Louise Sproule has been involved in organizing the Spring Home Tour and previous Christmas Home Tours, so was pleased to take on the Victorian Christmas Home Tour from the Vankleek Hill Business and Merchant Association.

The 2009 event enlisted the help of many community volunteers and Lisa Henderson, of Hillcrest Funeral Home, was the volunteer coordinator, calling upon her experience from past years to make everything run smoothly.

Six community organizations each received a $500 donation from the proceeds of the Victorian Christmas Home Tour. The organizations were: The Vankleek Hill Agricultural Society The Vankleek Hill and District Historical Society The Vankleek Hill Rangers The Vankleek Hill Horticultural Society The Higginson Tower The Vankleek Hill Fiddle and Dance Association.

Below are slide shows featuring photos from this year's fabulous tour, which welcomed more than 700 visitors to homes.

The Review salutes official home decorator Carole Robert of Interior Expressions for a wonderful job, accentuating five of Vankleek Hill's historic and unique homes, each with its own style of holiday finery.

The 2010 Victorian Christmas Home Tour takes place on November 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mark your calendars and plan a day out, book a limousine with five or six friends and enjoy shopping, visiting homes, dining in one of our six restaurants, or take advantage of old-fashioned church luncheons.

We guarantee you will have an inspiring, restful day and will head for home filled with holiday spirit! Now, here are our slide shows, featuring photographs taken by Louise Sproule. These slide shows were prepared by The Review's student intern, Corey Illingworth.

Letters: To: Louise Sproule: Just to say thank-you for posting all those wonderful photos of the Christmas House Tour. It was so delightful to see my old family home looking so festive. It brought back many memories of the wonderful times at Christmas we enjoyed on Derby Avenue in Vankleek Hill. The Mackenzie home in the country looked wonderful. It too has a special place in my memories of Christmas. Congratulations on the success of this project. Loraine MacPhee Coffin West Vancouver, BC

the second & the fourth should be made into / yuletime- postcards & sold on the web, do a bit of fundraising to have some pin $!!! *more than enough to run the business; *most likely enough to fund a(nother) festival to further fundraise for establishment of a youth artist stipend; *Probabably enough to develop a coop to purchase artist supplies in bulk or better yet ... *Enough to provide a stipend to your own coop members to travel or just live & eat.. You see what I mean?...lol Later Gators Donna Meness Kitigan Zibi Anishnebeg born member of www.idloa.org google to find my comments
