Reader only sees positive; language not an issue here

I understand everyone is entitled to his or her opinion but was disappointed and saddened in reading the letter, “Make yourself heard” regarding flyers being printed in one language only.
We moved from Quebec to Hawkesbury in June. When people ask us how we are enjoying our new surroundings, the answer is immediate and positive. We love it. One of the many reasons we love it is the fact that language has not been an issue here at any time or place. People switch from English to French and vice versa without any hesitation or attitude. It’s a pleasure doing business with everyone we have encountered on both sides of the bridge.
We receive more flyers and local newspapers here than we ever did when living in Montreal and they are also far more bilingual. That the rare one might be unilingual should not be an issue. If one doesn’t understand the printed word, look at the pictures. If that doesn’t make the advertiser’s message clear, move on to the next flyer. No harm, no foul.
The letter states we are a bilingual country. Try finding a flyer in Toronto in both official languages. Let’s focus on the positive attitude towards language that we have encountered in our new environment.
