Sept. 19 & 20

Every week I tell myself that I will write some of the more exciting things that are going on in the area and somehow, just getting everything done in a day means that there is no time left to write anything extra. I guess that means I have to move this blog up on my priority list.
We were amazed to learn that our own Beau's Brewery has arranged for "Norm!", yes, "Norm!" from Cheers to be in town for the Oktoberfest activity, which takes place at the Vankleek Hill fairgrounds.
This weekend, Vankleek Hill is gearing up for the Festival of Flavours, including the 320-foot-long table at which you can enjoy your food samples purchased from local chefs as they prepare local foods and produce.
Stop by to visit us here at The Review, for we, too, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you are a Review subscriber, come by to pick up your FREE APPLE. If you are not a subscriber, we have a special $25 per year offer on for ONE DAY ONLY. If you are a regular subscriber and want to renew at that price, we'll be happy to do that for you.
Review journalist Philippe Morin will be covering the food festival and I will be capturing the official opening of the Vankleek Hill Museum at 2 p.m. that day. If you are in town, watch for period costumes and historical re-enactors as they parade down the town's Main Street.
You can also watch for Cheri Barton and her team as they do the "Walk for PKD", leaving the fairgrounds and making its way through town.
This is a lot to take in already for just one weekend, but just down the road in Dunvegan is the Harvest Festival, complete with horse-drawn parade and a harvest tent filled with home-made jams, jellies, pickles, etc. seeds and more! Plus there will be lots of demonstrations of skills from days gone by. And just a week or so ago, the Glengarry Fencibles confirmed they will be on hand for the day with performances taking place several times throughout the Harvest Festival. Jeannine St-Amour will be covering the Glengarry Pioneer Museum event.
Don't complain that both of these on the same day: You can do it all!
I'll be at The Review on and off throughout the day on Sunday, September 20! I look forward to seeing you there.
