But back to this weekend. Little Nashville is taking over Alexandria this weekend as there are four days of country music at the Alexandria Sports Palace. The Review's Philippe Morin will be heading out there this weekend to capture the spirit of the event. Watch for one of Phil's sound-slide presentations on this popular event next week.
On Saturday, Tara Kirkpatrick will be watching where she stands as she takes pictures at the Lachute demo-derby mud-bog event. Don't ask! You have to see it to believe it. Watch for those pictures next week online. PLUS: On Sunday, Sept. 6, Tara will be checking out the Expo Auro Retro in Lachute in Barron Park. This is a great venue for this vintage car show .. . made in the shade, literally, as vintage cars can be viewed in Lachute's beautiful and shady Barron Park. There is food on site and usually, a shuttle to take you around the park to take in the sights. Watch for Tara's pictures in next week's Review.
Meanwhile, Review freelance photographer Jeannine St-Amour will be checking out Hawkesbury's Car Show right in downtown Hawkesbury. This is a popular get-together for car afficionados and there is always great music, too.
Two great car shows on the same day! If you like looking at cars and talking to the people who restore them, now is your chance!
This coming week will be Review editor Matthew Talbot's last week with us here at The Review. Matthew is seizing a job opportunity close to Toronto and we will miss him.
When I hire young journalists, I know that in many cases, their dreams lie beyond working for a weekly newspaper. They want to move on to the dailies in the big cities, where they can work on bigger stories and do more in-depth reporting. As Matthew's first employer after he graduated from journalism at Algonquin College, it was a privilege to see him grow into this job and take on more responsibilities here. I am sure he will be a valued and appreciated journalist in his new workplace. You can send Matthew an email at: mtalbot@thereview.ca
