Speaker Series coming to Arbor Gallery

Kieran Kennedy, Principal of East Front Public School in Cornwall, will be a guest speaker at Arbor Gallery in Vankleek Hill on Saturday, January 9 at 7:30 p.m., starting off a 14-week "Speaker Series" being presented for its 14th consecutive year. He will be presenting "Frog Logic", a book written by former US Navy SEAL David B. Rotherford.
"Frog Logic" is intended to introduce school-aged children to the philosophy of building confidence around hard work, physical fitness and mental discipline. "Students, teachers and parents are thriving and can't get enough of the program," says Kennedy. "'Frog Logic' is about helping kids become the best people they can be while fostering essential character, education virtues and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. We're doing all we can to win the fight against childhood obesity in our community."
According to Statistics Canada, 26% of children aged six to 11 are overweight or obese, a number that has doubled since 1978. Overweight children are at a higher risk of developing major health problems including hypertension, glucose intolerance and orthopedic complications as well as self-esteem and body image issues. Shockingly, some studies show that over half of children aged five to 17 are not even active enough for optimal development and growth. With statistics like these, Kennedy says: "Frog Logic could not have come at a better time."
