Teams from Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI), École Secondaire Catholique de Casselman, École Secondaire Catholique Le Relais, St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, École Secondaire Catholique L’Éscale, and École Secondaire Catholique Embrun participated in a volleyball tournament at VCI on Tuesday, January 10.

This was the Senior Girls Tier 1 Division tournament. The Senior Girls Tier 2 Division tournament took place the same day at Russell High School.

The final was played by L’Escale and Le Relais, with L’Escale winning in straight sets (25-12, 25-19). This was the second game between the two teams that day. Le Relais gave L’Escale all they could handle during a match earlier in the day, but L’Escale ended up winning the exciting game in the third and deciding set.

The VCI girls played a great game against a very skilled Casselman team (which narrowly lost in the semi-finals to Le Relais), but were unable to grab the win, losing 25-17 and 25-19. They were defeated by Embrun in their next game. Their last game of the day was against St. Francis Xavier. VCI lost the first set and was narrowly defeated in the second set with a score of 25-23.

The VCI players will compete in their next tournament on February 9 at La Seigneurie in Casselman.
